Collaboration Software

The two basic modes of electronic communication are synchronous (telephone, instant messaging, conferencing) and asynchronous (email, texting, sites).  Collaboration software and services blend these media to allow virtual teaming. Teams can work on a project apart, perhaps disconnected and not necessarily at the same time using asynchronous tools and together, at the same time to focus on key parts of a project, using synchronous tools.   Because they can, does not mean the team is firing on all cylinders - focussed on project tasks, motivated and able to meet deadlines.  It does not mean that what they are using protects the property of the organization and meets the needs of regulatory authorities.  elastictime helps organizations to balance security concerns, managability concerns and productivity needs, to support better virtual teams.  It does this with a mix of technical services and management consulting services.

Security

Protecting intellectual property and keeping documents secure is becoming increasingly difficult.  elastictime specializes in helping organizations to keep documents and communications within teams safe from outsiders. At the same time, audit trails can be kept to satisfy regulatory requirements.  Two main technologies are used to do that: Microsoft Office Groove and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS).  Groove is used where documents are in flux, where there are many updates being made by a team to a project and where actions need to be closely coordinated.  SharePoint is used for the majority of content that is less dynamic and needs to be distributed to a broad audience, either an intranet, secure extranet or via a public website.
